Privacy Policy

We built Clime to stay out of your files. This policy explains the limited information we do handle, and why.

Effective October 9, 2026. Clime is made by YZ Media, LLC ("we", "us").

The short version

  • You don't need an account to use Clime.
  • Your files, canvases, notes, and links stay on your computer.
  • Clime doesn't send usage data, analytics, or tracking information.
  • If you use Clime Sync, your files are encrypted so only your devices can read them. We never see your files, and we never store them.
  • We hold only the minimum needed to run and bill Clime Sync.

1. Using Clime

Clime works directly with the files and folders on your computer. To use it, you don't create an account or give us any personal information.

Clime does not send us usage data, analytics, or crash reports. Your files, canvases, notes, and links never leave your computer unless you turn on Clime Sync.

When you download Clime or it checks for an update, the download is served by our hosting providers, which process standard request information such as your IP address in order to deliver the file.

Optional diagnostics (planned)

A future version of Clime will offer optional diagnostics to help us improve the app. It will be off by default and will only run if you turn it on. Before that version is released, we will update this policy to list exactly what diagnostics collect. Diagnostics will never include the contents of your files, or file, folder, or canvas names.

2. Clime Sync

Clime Sync is an optional, paid feature that keeps your work up to date across your computers. Our promise: we hold the minimum needed to bill you. We never see your files. What passes through us, we cannot read and do not keep.

What we hold

  • Your email address, to identify your account and send subscription messages such as receipts and renewal notices.
  • Your subscription status and billing record. Payments are handled by our payment processor; we do not store your card details.
  • Pseudonymous device identifiers and activation dates, to apply device limits and prevent abuse.
  • The total amount of data relayed for your subscription, without any information about what it was.

What we never hold

  • The contents of your files, in any form, encrypted or not.
  • File names, folder names, or folder structure.
  • Your canvases, layouts, notes, links, or tasks.

How your data moves

Sync is end-to-end encrypted between your own devices, and the keys exist only on those devices. Your devices connect to each other directly whenever they can, including over your local network. When a direct connection isn't possible, encrypted data may pass through our relay, which forwards it as it arrives and never writes it to disk. To help your devices find each other, we may briefly hold a device's network address; it expires within minutes.

3. Our website

climeapp.com does not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party scripts. The site is delivered and protected by Cloudflare, which processes standard request information such as your IP address and browser type to serve pages and block abuse.

4. When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and your message and use them only to respond. Our email is hosted by Google Workspace.

5. Service providers

We share information only as needed to operate Clime:

  • Cloudflare: website delivery, security, and DNS.
  • Google Workspace: email.
  • GitHub: hosting app downloads and updates.
  • Our payment processor: Clime Sync billing. It handles payment information as an independent data controller.
  • Infrastructure providers: running the services behind Clime Sync, under contracts that restrict them from using your data for their own purposes.

We do not sell your information or share it with advertisers or data brokers.

6. Legal basis (EEA and UK)

If data protection laws such as the GDPR apply to you, we process your information to fulfill our agreement with you (your Clime Sync subscription), for our legitimate interests in keeping our services secure and working, and with your consent where we ask for it (such as optional diagnostics, once available).

7. How long we keep information

We keep account information while your Clime Sync account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information within a reasonable period, except records we must keep by law, such as payment records. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to help you. Data passing through our relay is never stored.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, or object to certain processing. Email privacy@climeapp.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.

9. Children

Clime is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
